Inventory Stores
Overview
Inventory stores represent physical or logical locations where inventory is stored and tracked. Each store maintains its own stock quantities and can have unique settings.
Inventory stores are essential components of the inventory management system, allowing businesses to organize their stock across multiple locations such as warehouses, retail stores, production facilities, or virtual locations. Each store provides a separate tracking environment with its own stock levels, transaction history, and reporting capabilities.
Fields of the Inventory Store Form Explained
- Store Account: The store's display name shown in all transactions and reports
- Name: The store's name shown in all transactions related to stores and reports.
- Address: The address of the store, this is shown in the printed documents of transactions that are linked to the store. Such as invoices or refunds.
- Description: A brief description of the store's purpose or physical location. This is optional and is kept on the store details page for future reference.
Reasons to Create Multiple Stores
- Physical Locations: Separate stores for different physical locations (for example: warehouse, branch, production facility)
- Business Segments: Different stores for different business segments (for example: wholesale, retail, online)
- Delivery Stores: Separate stores for different delivery methods. So items still not delivered but enroute are stored in a different store.
