Custom Templates

Overview

Manage and customize document templates for invoices, receipts, and other transaction documents to reflect your brand identity and meet specific business requirements.

Custom templates allow you to create custom print documents that represent your business identity while including all the necessary information for transactions, ensuring clear communication with customers and suppliers.

This is useful if you need to print documents designed in ways different from the default print designs that Mezan provides. And has near unlimited flexibility to design the document as you want.

Transaction Types

The Custom Templates feature supports creation and customization of print templates for various transaction types:

  1. Sales Quotations
  2. Sales Invoices
  3. Sales Receipts
  4. Credit Notes
  5. Purchase Orders
  6. Purchasing Invoices
  7. Purchasing Receipts
  8. Debit Notes
  9. General Receipts

Once you add a custom template for a transaction type, it will be available in the print button for that transaction type.

Custom Templates Components

In addition to the default components used in the default templates, which are available based on the transaction type template being designed, you can add custom components to your templates.

Custom templates do not enforce you use the default components, you can use the ones you need, and remove the ones you don't need.

There is a few additional custom components that can be added to all template types to extend the template design capabilities.

The available custom components are:

  1. Custom Text Block: this is a powerful custom text block that can be used to add custom text to the document in any position. It supports formattable text, images, tables, and dynamic data from the transaction it is being used in, such as invoice totals, customer details, payment details, or even custom fields.
  2. Signature Block: this is a premade signature component you can use to add a signature slot to the document design.
  3. Dividers: this is a premade divider component you can use to add a divider to the document design.

Each section added in the template can be configured to be full width, or split into two columns. And the order of the sections is completely up to you.

Use Cases

There is many use cases for custom templates, especially when combined with custom fields, to create really powerful workflows based on Mezan's transactions data.

A few key use cases are:

  1. Design sales documents with custom text & logos for terms, payment instructions, signature slots.
  2. Create derivate templates based on existing transaction data, such as creating contract templates from sales quotations, sales invoices, purchasing orders or purchasing invoices.
  3. Create approval signature slots for purchasing documents.

Improvements Planned

The following document types are planned to be supported soon with custom templates:

  1. Inventory transactions.
  2. Manual journals.
  3. Reports.

The following design features are planned to be added soon:

  1. Support for modifying the default components, such as showing more columns or modifying colors of the tables available in the default components list for each transaction type.
  2. Support design configurations for the headers of transactions.
